BELLAGUARDIA Capuleti Rosé — Pas Dosé, Traditional Method

BELLAGUARDIA Capuleti Rosé — Pas Dosé, Traditional Method

In Montecchio Maggiore, Veneto, Italy, where the historic castles of Romeo and Juliet rise above the vineyards at the foothills of the Lessini Mountains, Bellaguardia expresses the character of its territory through artisanal Traditional Method winemaking. Capuleti Rosé draws its identity from this evocative landscape, where the medieval history of the Montecchi and Capuleti families intertwines with the literary heritage that inspired the enduring story of Romeo and Juliet. A wine whose name carries the memory of a place, shaped by history, culture and a deeply rooted sparkling wine tradition.

Crafted exclusively from 100% Pinot Nero grown in the Carbonara vineyard on the eastern slopes beneath the castles, Capuleti Rosé reflects the distinctive conditions of its hillside origins. At approximately 100–150 metres above sea level, vines cultivated on loamy, clay-limestone soils provide the fruit for a carefully controlled vinification. Hand-harvested grapes undergo approximately 12 hours of skin contact, allowing the wine to acquire its delicate antique-rose colour before gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel. A second fermentation in bottle and more than 36 months of lees ageing develop its complexity and finesse, while the Pas Dosé style preserves the wine's natural expression without added sugar at disgorgement.

In the glass, a delicate antique-rose hue and elegant, finely textured bubbles introduce an expressive aromatic profile. Wild berries and fresh rose petals emerge alongside subtle spicy nuances, while hints of sweet almond lend softness and depth. The palate combines the persistence of red-fruit flavours with a refined savoury character, lively freshness and a distinct mineral impression. Its extended maturation contributes textural harmony and precision, allowing the fruit's expressive character to unfold with clarity and restraint.

Capuleti Rosé embodies a compelling interpretation of Pinot Nero through the lens of Bellaguardia's territory and winemaking philosophy. Its measured extraction, prolonged bottle maturation and uncompromising Pas Dosé expression reveal a rosé of individuality, where delicacy does not exclude character and freshness is accompanied by depth. Rooted in the landscape of the two castles, it offers a distinctive encounter between vineyard, craftsmanship and historical memory — an expression of Veneto's Traditional Method heritage that reflects the independent spirit and territorial identity valued by BEYOND*.

Sensory profile

APPEARANCE
A delicate antique-rose hue, illuminated by subtle copper and pale salmon reflections that reveal the measured extraction of Pinot Nero. Fine, lively bubbles rise with elegance, forming a discreet, finely textured mousse. A visual expression of refinement and restraint, where the colour retains a distinctive warmth without excessive intensity.

NOSE
An expressive and finely layered bouquet, opening with wild strawberries, mixed woodland berries and delicate rose petals. Gentle citrus nuances bring brightness, while subtle hints of sweet spices and almond add complexity. Beneath the fruit, suggestions of freshly baked bread and a restrained smoky character recall the wine's prolonged lees maturation, creating an intriguing dialogue between youthful aromatic freshness and more developed savoury notes.

PALATE
Precise and invigorating on entry, with lively acidity and fine effervescence supporting the expressive character of Pinot Nero. Red-berry flavours unfold through a dry, clearly defined palate, accompanied by gentle spice, a delicate almond nuance and a distinctive savoury impression. The Pas Dosé style reveals the wine's natural tension without sweetness obscuring its structure, while the texture retains a measured creaminess that softens its incisive freshness.

BALANCE & STRUCTURE
A compelling interplay between delicacy and character. The freshness of red fruit and floral nuances is counterbalanced by the breadth acquired through extended lees ageing, while a distinctly dry profile gives the wine clarity and definition. Its finely integrated bubbles contribute textural continuity, allowing the savoury and subtly mineral dimensions to emerge without excessive weight. The result is structured yet agile, with an underlying sense of precision.

EVOLUTION IN THE GLASS
As the wine opens and gradually approaches a slightly warmer serving temperature, its floral and red-berry expression may develop alongside more subdued notes of biscuit, almond and gentle spice. The savoury and subtly smoky impressions documented in earlier tastings suggest an additional dimension worth observing, although their prominence may vary according to vintage, disgorgement and bottle evolution. A rosé that invites attentive tasting rather than hurried appreciation.

FINISH
Clean, persistent and distinctly savoury. Red-berry echoes gradually yield to delicate citrus, almond and subtle mineral impressions, while a faint, refined bitterness lends definition to the closing sensation. The fine effervescence sustains freshness and leaves an impression of elegance, tension and aromatic continuity.

SENSORY IDENTITY
Capuleti Rosé expresses the character of Pinot Nero through a carefully restrained rosé vinification and the uncompromising dryness of Pas Dosé. Its identity lies in the contrast between the delicacy of its antique-rose colour and floral aromas, the expressive vitality of red berries and a savoury depth enriched by lees maturation. Neither purely delicate nor overtly powerful, it reveals a distinctive balance of finesse, energy and gastronomic character.

SERVING TEMPERATURE
8–10°C. (46–50°F.) — Recommended to preserve the clarity of red-fruit and floral aromas while allowing the wine's texture and savoury complexity to develop. A tulip-shaped sparkling-wine glass or a moderately generous white-wine glass is preferable to a narrow flute, offering sufficient space for aromatic expression without diminishing the perception of fine bubbles.

BEYOND INTERPRETATION*
Capuleti Rosé reveals the more intimate and expressive dimension of Bellaguardia's Traditional Method philosophy. From the Carbonara vineyard beneath the historic castles of Montecchio Maggiore, Pinot Nero is shaped into a rosé whose identity rests on delicacy without fragility, dryness without austerity and freshness enriched by savoury depth. Its character lies not in dramatic concentration but in the measured relationship between fruit, time and the individuality of its place of origin — a compelling expression of territorial authenticity and artisanal precision.
